Greetings to all. I may not have a fancy-schmancy digital camera like most of you out there, but my little HP was enough to win me 3rd place in UTEP's "Give Us Your Best Shot" photo contest. It was open to faculty, students and alumni and the point was to take pictures of our unique perspective of the campus. The pictures are going to be used for new brochures, ads etc. and are curently hanging in the museum gallery for all to see. Here is the winning photo, titled "A Bug's View."

Softball Runner-Ups

Margery and I played on a softball team with Accenture this summer. It had its ups and downs but was a great time. Everyone had a wonderful attitude although we started 1-9 (which was the entire regular season). The other teams wished the season stopped there, but it didn't!! Playoffs, because there are 12 teams and this is an unofficiated coed softball league, everybody gets to make playoffs. Well, 12 seed or not, we were going to make some noise. We started off playing the 5th ranked team, they beat us at the end of the season. We ended up winning 12-2 and then carried that momentum onto the second round beating the 4th ranked team 10-5. We were the new buzz around the league. Heck, our own team couldn't believe it, we doubled our win total for the season in one night!!! But as we looked ahead, it was the dreaded #1 seed, they took it to us during the season, truth be told, wasn't thrilled about playing them again. It was a nail biter, going back and forth, we'd score 3 runs, they'd score 3 runs. This is how it went until the 6th inning when they managed to pull ahead. Man was I bummed, winning all game just to fall short, but that was not to be. The fat lady had not sung. During the top of the 7th wouldn't you know, Team Accenture comes roaring back to take a two run lead. Then we held them, we were going to the Championship game!!! then the story gets sad, we lost, pretty convincingly, but we got a huge trophy, everyone at work was envious and proud. Looking forward to next year.....going for #1!!!

Domestic Violence...The Musical?
Here's some info on the play Gina is performing with next weekend. You could actually see her in the background of a picture in the paper but you can't on-line.
**This is a correction to my mother's posting. You can see Gina if you click to enlarge the second photo into a new window**

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there today. Kathy and I did do a few things during our time off this past week. Unfortunatly Kathy got a very nasty sinus infection and we did not do anything after Thursday. We did visit the Botanical Gardens, the Zoo, the Aquarium and the World of Coke. We did not not get to do the CNN tour, nor the Altanta History Center. We had also wanted to do some ruby hunting/mining in North Carolina, spend some time gambling in Cherokee and I was planning on meeting some folks in Asheville at a range. I just download Piccasa from Google to help organize the harddisk I can my picture gallery and up load the vacation pics. Here is a sampling.
Sorry no Aquarium pics for now. It is very difficult to shoot through one to three foot worth of lexan.

Forensics-Not just for dead people
Well, three medals for my three events at Pi Kappa Delta Nationals isn't too bad. All first year students were automatically in Novice division, I took 2nd in both Poetry and Dramatic Interpretation, losing to my teammates so I can't really complain. My duo partner and I took first in both Novice and Open, so we were pretty stoked about that. Portland was a great way to round out my first year of collegiate forensics, by the time I'd been to Houston, NYC, San Diego and LA I came home with multiple trophies, certificates and other various awards. Getting to travel was hectic and stressful but at the same time, a great opportunity to see some new things. I look forward to more traveling in the next few years, especially since I have yet to see Seattle's fish market and Uncle Marc was talking about an aquarium?
We didn't get to go in Portland but that's ok because I think I would need an entire day to mosey my way through all the fishies.
I have officially been accepted to University of Texas El Paso, my current major is English but they have this unique program where instead of graduating with a BA or BS, I would have a BMD--A degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies, which is basically like having a double major and a minor, but allows more flexibility in your areas of study--quite similar to a degree in Liberal Arts but with three specific topics. I will be taking classes in El Paso this summer so it looks like I'll only make it back to MI for about a week to go camping with my dad then off to Yellowstone to see all of you!
Hope all is well and I hope this blog thing works out because it's an easy way to keep in touch (meaning, I can post at 2am when most of you are sleeping and I don't have to worry about waking you up!)
Smiles and much love.

Hellllooo
Hey, Kathy and I are doing ok. I never really "got" the whole Blog "thing" but what the...heck not much different from posting on a message board. We are planning a little down time in the begining of May. Nothing big, maybe a quick trip up to the Western NC/North GA mountains, plus doing those things you really should do. World of Coke, the new Aquarium, CNN tour, etc. The usual touristy stuff that one never does until either you move away and come back to visit or you have visitors. We will make sure be bring the camera this time when we visit the baby panda at the Zoo, although she is growing up fast. Well have a good night ya all.
Join the blog!!!!

I am hoping everyone will want to participate in this. I just don't feel like I'm keeping up with everyone, especially my cousins. Please feel free to post all sorts of fun and crazy things on the blog. Pictures of trips and events are very welcome along with any news that people want to share. Hope to see some new postings soon :) Please send me an email with anyone's address who should be invited. I need to invite people so they can leave postings and comments. Everyone not in this picture should post one of them, sorry, I just have a lack of photos on my computer.
